Lamby on the loose!

Eric is traveling for work. He will be in China, Tokyo and Hong Kong all is a week's time. Carli gave one of her esteemed lambs for the trip and we received these pictures today. Lamby has been around the world several times and seems to be enjoying his current trip!

Spring Break

Sun and surf is not only unlikely but also impossible in Portland. So we headed up to Seattle for even rainier weather! We are visiting our friends and just getting away. We arrived yesterday and hung out and I cooked a fabulous meal. Not sure what is on tap for today yet. Eric is holding down the fort with Mickey at home.

Also on tap, Carli is having a friend over for a sleepover on Thursday night. It should be a wild time filled with eating and giggling.

Art Museum

On Sunday we took a family outing to the Portland Art Museum. Carli is really interested in drawing and art so it seemed like a perfect opportunity. We spent about an hour looking at art and then an hour doing art and craft projects at the museum. Even Pearl enjoyed herself running around the hallways of the museum.

Family Life

We are still transitioning and have great days and tough days. But Pearl is smiling more and talking. Her words are "Cat" and "That". She nods her head yes and no when you ask her a question. She can give kisses and the other day while we were driving she pointed out the window and said what sounded like "dog". These pictures show her using a spoon for the first time last night.

She fights sleep (still!) but loves Carli and Carli loves her. She eats like a horse. The doctor is going to be surprised next month at how much weight she has gained!

Weekend at the beach

Eric took the girls last weekend to the beach with his family. I got a much needed weekend to myself. Everyone had a great time. Pearl and Carli loved the sand and water. Carli came home with some shells. Needless to say, everyone went to sleep early upon their return.

Turning a corner

It appears that we have turned a corner. Pearl seems to be more comfortable in her surroundings. She is actually smiling and talking. She is more animated and has finally attached to a toy....a Beanie Baby horse that my neighbor gave to her. She is pretty much sleeping through the night and taking a morning nap with little argument. She just got tooth #6 and still eats everything in sight. Her favorites are bananas and cheese though and when she sees those items coming she smiles and gurgles.

I gave her my cell phone the other day and she immediately put it to her ear and started dancing. I was really shocked because that is what the nannies did with the children in the orphanage. I could not believe that she remember that and still made the connection.

Pearl is understanding soooooo much English. Kids truly are sponges!
