We spent the weekend at the beach. Our friend was kind enough to give us their beach house in Arch Cape for the weekend. The weather was typical beach weather...stormy, cloudy, rainy and a little sun. We had a great time, though, with Eric's parents.

15 month doctor's visit
Pearl had her 15 mos. doctor's visit yesterday. The doctor was amazed at how smart she is and what a good baby overall. She gained 2 lbs. since her last visit and grew 1 1/4 inches. She also has two molars coming in. She got three shots and took it like a champ (for the most part).
A quirky thing we discovered was that Pearl has something called Geographic Tongue. Only 5% of the polulation has this. I always thought she was biting her tongue but actually she has these white marks on her tongue that look like a "map" hence the name Geographic Tongue. This is a harmless condition. The center area is redder than the rest of the tongue and the edges of the patch are whitish in color. The patient may complain of slight irritation there but usually is blissfully unaware of the patch.
No one really knows where these patches come from, nor where they go. It is assumed as usual that if there is an infectious cause it must be viral, but really we don't know what the cause is; geographic tongue is associated with a variety of inflammatory or allergic conditions as well. We just know it's harmless and goes away without treatment.
Who knew?!
Done. And done!

Visit with Claire
We took a 45 minute drive today to see Pearl's orphanage sister, Claire. It was nice to compare stories with Julie and have Claire and Pearl continue to play together. I hope this is a long relationship. We let the girls play with toys for a while and then walked to a beautiful park close to Julie's house. We then had lunch where Pearl showed her love of eating. Carli had a grand time being "mommy" to two babies instead of one.
