Dinner and dessert

We went for tapas tonight at Boqueria in Soho. It was good. Of course, tapas really means a little bit of food with a big check at the end. But nonetheless, it was tasty. We then walked through Little Italy. Eric knows I am always on a quest for a great cannoli. My favorite is Vaccaro's in Baltimore but I found a pretty good one tonight at Cafe Palermo. They tout that they have the "best cannoli on planet Earth". I am happy to report that is WAS pretty good!

Katz's, Brooklyn Bridge and more

Last night we went to a great restaurant called L'Artusi. We also had Crumbs cupcakes with our friend Gary. Yum! This morning we headed over to a New York institution-Katz's Deli. They have been around since 1888 and are known for their Pastrami. Eric enjoyed his sandwich alot and I stuck with a bagel.

We then headed over to the Brooklyn Bridge. Although it is very hot on the streets of the city, once you are on the bridge the breeze makes it quite enjoyable. There were lots of fellow walkers and bikers taking in the amazing sights of both New York and Brooklyn.

We then took the subway to Soho and walked around once again. We then had to go to our hotel room so that Eric could catch the soccer game. It is okay, though, my feet needed the break!

High Line

The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. Section 1 of the High Line is open as a public park, owned by the City of New York. When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. It features an integrated landscape, combining meandering concrete pathways with naturalistic plantings. Fixed and movable seating, lighting, and special features are also included in the park. Access points from street level will be located every two to three blocks. Many of these access points will include elevators, and all will include stairs.

NYC

The highlight of our trip, so far, is our bike ride in Central Park. Although, if you ask Carli, the best part of our trip is our visit to Dylan's Candy Bar. It was three floors of candy, sugar and excitement. Wow!

Bye-Bye 2002

Eric sold his 2002 today. He owned it for 22 years! A woman bought it to celebrate turning 40 tomorrow. She will take good care of Eric's baby.

Robot Show

Carli and her classmates have spent the last week building robots that actually have a motor. All week she has been describing her daily progress. Today was the Robot Show. All the kids got to show off their handiwork. Carli has been super excited about this project.

One more Rose Show video

Here is another video of Carli's presentation. Although, shaky at first, it is much closer up and you can see Carli at her finest.

Laurelhurst Rose Show

Carli had her first ever presentation at Laurelhurst's Rose Show. She was one of the six second graders selected to have a speaking part during the show. Eric took the attached video. Although it is difficult to see her, you can hear her sweet voice. She was quite proud of herself when the show was over.

Memorial Weekend

We went to Sunriver for Memorial weekend. We went on a hike to Benham Falls, swam at the pool and when the weather allowed, we went biking. We fed the horses and saw lots of deer and coyotes. It was a fun, relaxing weekend.
