Newport

The drive from Westchester to Cape Cod was quite scenic.  We made a spontaneous decision to veer off to Newport,  Rhode Island.  The girls didn't mind since it meant another ice cream opportunity!

New York/New Jersey/Westchester

We then headed up to NYC.  We stayed near Penn Station for the night.  Boy, Times Square was crowded!  Of course, Dylan's Candy Bar was on the list.  We also rode bikes in Central Park.  We then headed to New Jersey to see our friends.  We visited the city from there.  We visited Battery Park, the 9/11 Memorial and Soho.

We then headed to Bedford Hills in Westchester.  We had a day at the pool.  The next day we drove through the Hudson Valley to New Paltz and Lake Minnewaska.

Washington DC

We arrived in DC July 2nd and immediately headed to the Lincoln Memorial and The Mall.  The next morning (early) we had our White House visit and Capitol tour.  We also visited several museums including the Spy Museum, the American Art Museum, American History Museum, Sculpture Garden, Air and Space Museum and 4th of July fireworks on The Mall.

Only the first day was unbearably hot and humid.  The remaining four days were pretty pleasant.  Heading out of DC we visited Arlington Cemetery.  The girls are great travelers and walked for miles everywhere we went.

We stayed at the Melrose Hotel which was a great location in Georgetown.
