Princess Party

Pearl was invited to her first Princess Brithday party today.  She planned her outfit early this morning, including her high heels.  She was so excited to arrive and share the spotlight with other princesses and the birthday girl!

New Bike

Carli got a new bike yesterday.  It is hard to get her off of it!

Timbers Game

Eric took Carli with some friends to last night's Timbers game.  It was the perfect evening for a game and the final score of 1-0 ended the Timbers losing streak to the top ranked team in the country!  A good time was had by all.

Pizza

Yesterday I made pizza dough from scratch, which is quite easy but just takes a bit of time. This inspired Carli to plan an entire theme for a restaurant last night for dinner. She made menus, a "Please wait to be seated sign", an order book and a scorecard for the meal. At the end of the meal we were given a bill and the register was waiting for our money. Fortunately, the restaurant comped our meal, so we owed nothing! It was quite creative and the pizza turned out great. There was one Margarita and one Eggplant Fanatic (as Carli aptly named it). It had eggplant, garlic, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, ricotta and basil. It was yummy and pretty much all mine due to the eggplant!

Easter Fun

The weather god looked down on Portland favorably and gave us wonderful Easter weather. After church and lunch, the girls had fun running around looking for Easter eggs.

San Diego Zoo

Today we decided to go to the San Diego Zoo. We could not have picked a better day--sunny, clear and a perfect 75 degrees. Carli was in charge of the camera and took tons of pictures. I have pared them down and posted the best ones. The girls really liked all the animals, but the Orangutans were definitely showmen today. The girls also enjoyed the petting zoo. Overall the zoo was beautifully landscaped, clean and had a nice variety of animals.

La Jolla

Today we headed to La Jolla to check out the seals. La Jolla is a really beautiful town perched on a cliff right on the sea. There is a seal beach where lots of seals sun themselves and seem to be unaware of all the people gawking at them. There was also a car show going on so there were lots of people out and about doing a different type of gawking...at the amazing cars. We had lunch at a place called Puesto (quite good), gelato (also good) and walked around a bit until Pearl and her friend, Lilah, ran out of energy.
